9/10s Win Provincial Championship!

A year removed from going undefeated in Post Season as 9 year olds, the Langley Little League 9/10 year olds have won the BC Provincial Championships beating host Layritz Little League 16-6.

Coming off a big win in the District 3 Championships, defeating Whalley Little League 12-2, Langley was confident going into the BC Championships. After going 3 and 2 in the round Robin phase of the BC Championship Tournament, Langley had to face a strong Central Saanich team in the Semi-Finals. In a hard fought Semi-Final game against a tough Central Saanich Little League squad, Langley had to come from behind to score 3 runs in the bottom of the final inning to tie the game. In the extra inning Central Saanich was able to score 1 run in the top half of the inning. With their backs to the wall Langley was able to score 2 runs in the bottom of the extra inning to win the game and solidify their place in the finals against the Host Layritz Little League team.

“We have a very scrappy team that can follow up great pitching with great hitting when firing on all cylinders”, Langley Head Coach Cory Pich said looking forward to the finals the following day. In the end, Langley’s depth at pitching and their ability to hit the ball allowed Langley to defeat Layritz 16-6 to capture the BC 9/10 Championship Title. “We hope to continue the development of this team and look forward to playing and competing in future Little League championships en-route to a birth in the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in 2020”.
